...this is mine.

Im Michael Mischke, 51, and still single after all these years, if you
dont count being married to the two newspapers I publish, the Villager and
Avenues. Born in St. Cloud, Ive lived in St. Paul since I was 6 months old,
first in Macalester-Groveland in the same house my mom still lives in, and
since college in a series of houses and condos in the Summit Hill and
Summit-University neighborhoods. (There are no better sidewalks in town than
those of the Historic Hill District for architectural walking tours.) I
currently live within sniffing range of La Cucarachas kitchen at Grand
Avenue and Dale Street.

Ive worked here at the newspapers since my college days (St. Johns
University), first as editor and since 1990 as publisher.

I view the St. Paul Issues Forum as an electronic letters-to-the-editor page
and I periodically forward to my editors story ideas that I glean from
reading entries posted here. However, most of what I know I get from reading
newspapers, my own and others.

As a columnist for my newspapers, Id guess that I fall somewhere near the
middle of the political spectrum, since I seem to attract the wrath of the
Right almost as frequently as that of the Left.

Housing affordability, the quality of K-12 education, and transportation are
the three issues that I believe will dominate public discourse in St. Paul
for the next four years.
