I'm confused about the role of a mayor. Is this ethical? (i.e. pushing the dike against the interests of those who will be impacted, using tobacco lobbiest to push his agenda and pushing his agenda this strongly...)
Also, it feels really weird to me that my mayor has a big time lobbiest strong-arming my senators and representatives to go against my wishes.
Lastly, does anyone know if there has been an impact study done on the effects of a dike on the natural environment (waterfoul, vibrations, nesting studies health of animals) and the neighborhood (noise, pollution, widely-known temperature inversion etc etc.)
I've only heard the arguments about whether or not the river will go up and impacts upon shorelines etc.
