As anyone who has attended any of these so-called "Street-Beat events"knows, it
really is nothing but the Mayor's re-election campaign being paid for with City
Tax Dollars. As someone who put on one of these events in my neighborhood, who
is a well-known opponent of the Mayor said, the Mayor's office promised to
promote the event in the neighborhood, but did nothing, but brought in a whole
bunch of the Mayor's supporters, from outside the neighborhood to her private
home.

It's supposed to be non-partisan, but it is so carefully orchestrated and
stacked by the Mayor and his staff it clearly is nothing but Kelly's
re-election campaign. I'm curious how much this "Street-Beat" is costing the
taxpayers. I think whatever it is costing should be billed directly to the
Kelly for Mayor Campaign.

Jeanne, to answer your question, the Mayor never did answer my question as to
why he's shilling for Northwest Airlines by pushing the Holman Field Dike.
Originally my bet was that when we check the campaign reports, we would see
significant contributions to Kelly from Northwest Execs. But now I think it's
something else. I think Little Randy wants to play with the big boys

Kelly let the cat out of the bag when answering my question about Holman Field.
I wish we had it on videotape. Kelly said, what clinched the Holman Field dike
for him was the fact that the President of Gander Mountain is a private pilot
and he could land his land directly at Holman Field, instead of having to
circle 45 minutes at MSP!

So in other words, the City, the Feds and the State are going to spend 35
million on this dike, so a corporate buddy of Kelly's can land his plane
faster, instead of having to wait like the rest of us peons. Even assuming
private jets have to circle.

Kelly seems to have a fetish for corporate jets. Let us not forget, that he
first got in trouble for ethical violations when he flew on Dr. Glen Nelson's
private jet to Denver, a week before the City was taking Dr. Nelson's company,
Gopher State Ethanol, to trial for the stink and noise.

I guess the message here is, if you're a rich corporate exec and you take Mayor
Randy for a little ride in your plane, Randy will do anything you want, even if
the City Council, the Legislative delegation and most of the City is opposed.

Thanks to all of you who came over to Highland to help confront the mayor. As
usual, he lied and smooth-talked his way through the evening. But with some
good questioning by Dann Dobson, Bob Parker, Jane Prince and Erin Stojan, we
managed to reveal some of those lies.

He denied threatening Rep Hausman over the floodwall, but when pushed he framed
it in a way that was supposed to make it sound better - but was still clearly a
threat! Mostly he went on and on about his version of why the floodwall is a
good thing. I don't think he ever did answer Dann's question about why he's
shilling for NWA.

One of the gems of the evening was when he was talking about the latest
restrictions on Section 8 housing, sympathizing with the victims of this new
HUD policy and then saying "And if the President has his way it will only get
worse." Excuse me??? Would that be the president YOU endorsed???!!!

We didn't get a chance to ask him about Planned Parenthood and why they had to
fabricate reasons to issue the permit to share the sidewalk.

There were several other topics talked about, but I'm too tired to write it all
up tonight, so I'll leave that to others. OH - another GREAT thing was that
apparently Dann, Jane & Erin talked to KFAI afterwards!! Do you guys have any
details on when that will air??
