transfers of public resources to big business, trashing zoning laws and
the environment, misusing TIF and eminent domain.
The first chance we will have to fix this resource transfer is 2007, when
the council can be voted 5-2 against the mayor, and able to override his
vetos. There will be till then two years of deals to transfer as much of
the commons as they can. (This is exactly what is happening at the
Roseville City council, and the Mpls Park Board.)
It is open season on the public, on us.
Eternal vigilance is the price of not having large public resources
transferred up. The Kelly-Coleman "choice" means we will have to guard
everything like hawks all the time (as we now have to do in Roseville and
Mpls parks); this non-choice means a lot more work for us.
