With what appears to be a done (bend us over) deal with airport expansion, and MAC (metro airport comm) balking on all their previous promises for sound proofing homes. MPLS, Richfield, Egan are taking MAC to court to make them pay up. Is it any wonder why they want to expand here in St. Paul, we have such a great record, fighting noise.
One of the problems we will face trying to get any thing out of MAC is how much has the airport expansion hurt the neighborhoods. In order to answer that question, we need to figure out flight paths, current, and for any expansion runways they plan to add, and get some noise data of the before picture, so we stand a better chance of showing what kind of damage this thing is going to cause / caused in the future.
So does anybody have any maps, know of any maps, plans for this airport expansion. We certainly can't wait for LIEP (Lic inspection env protection), MN PCA (Minnesota pollution control agency) to do any of these back ground noise test. LIEP will be to busy measuring my grass height / length to worry about measuring noise for background tests.
Cheap sound measuring equipment that meets legal specifications can be purchased for about 200 - 300 dollars a piece, I can provide data collection software that will run on an old PC running Linux and an SQL (std query lang) data base. The more base line data we have the better. The more time we have to pick good monitoring locations that don't offer the oposision to make great comments like the noise must be blowing over from 35E, Mars, solar winds etc.
Pro Bono Mediators need not apply, Pro bono Lawyers, zealous paralegals welcome.

I haven't stopped my noise monitoring, I measure DBa, DBc (decibels weighted to the A scale, and the C scale) the data I have goes all the way back to Nov 2000 gee thats just one month after I noticed my permanent hearing damage, wonder where I got the motivation from, My total out lay in cost for the long term project less than I've paid in stupid fines, and excessive use fines, and processing fees for excessive use fees thats right (Processing fees on excessive use taxes) talk about over the top, or below the belt.
