With a record like this, I wonder what kind of retail renaissance we won't get for a $90 million subsidy to Jerry Trooien at the Bridges. Riverplace and St. Anthony Main may pale in comparsion.
Hey for $90 Million in subsidies I could open up all most all the shops that have closed since the city started messing with Downtown. You could even get a grocery store for that kind of money.
The way money was thrown around in the WTC, TS, Wabasha and the resulting havoc that ensued the flight of the small business people for the few Corporate operations that moved in (while the movin in was good) is a crying shame. It hurt St Paul's business climate, it hurt St Paul taxpayers, it hurt St Paul FAMILIES.
But on the bright side we were told it was for the good of St Paul, what a crock. When ever they say it's for the good of the city, hang on to your pocketbook and look out.
