As someone who has previously received the backing of the teachers union I found it important and valuable because teachers are taxpayers, parents and community members. They are also on the front line carrying out the work the board has directed. The best managers work with not against there employees.
It is still up to each individual voter to take each endorsement and piece of literature and make a decision and then vote. As a former school board candidate I want input from every group but at the end of day the board must make the best choice for the children of the district. This means that at some point you will piss off every group there is.
