If this scenario from John Zogby pans out, I place the blame squarely  
on the shoulders of the press:

will likely vote for “a comfortable old shoe”, that being Republican  
Sen. John McCain. "

Had they reported on Obama's past much earlier in the campaign, that  
scenario wouldn't be a concern well after the Democratic Convention.
