I'm not sure Prop. 19 will pass in Mendocino County -- there are too many people that that grow that depend on the high cost of weed. Making it legal will drastically reduce it's cost. Although touched on briefly in the article, Mexican drug cartels are moving into ranch lands and National Parks. They arm their workers and order them to shoot anyone that approaches, even sheriffs and DEA agents. They threaten the workers with murdering their family members back home in Mexico. In the past month, Mendocino sheriffs have shot and killed two illegal aliens that pointed AK047s at them during pot garden raids. The only effective way that I can see to defeat those Mexican drug cartels is to take the money out of pot, and the best way to do that is to legalize/decriminalize it.
