Oh please...as compared to the states where, for instance, in Arizona, the Senate leader is pushing an expansion of private vouchers and tax credits for donations to private schools...which just HAPPENS to be his business, or businesses. He has a business that directs those donations to the schools, for a fee, and bills out hours as that company's lawyer, and charges himself rent for his business in his building. The governor's chief of staff was and is married to a current lobbyist for the Correctioncs Corporation of America and it just happened coincidentally that her legilsative agenda included a vast expansion fo the private prison industry's involvement in Arizona DOC. The federal government has NOTHING on the states for sheer corruption, conflicts of interest and under the table dealings. Look up Montana's fight with theSCOTUS over the execrable Citizens United decision; Montana has laws on the book forbidding direct corporate involvement in campaign donatiosn BECAUSE of the gargantuan level of corruption it entailed. <http://www.newser.com/story/146496/22-states-back-montanas-citizens-united-challenge.html> <http://mtlr.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Howell_Once-Upon-a-Time.pdf> for more history. I think that the Citizens United decision was more wrongheaded than anything the Supreme Court has done since, possibly, Dredd Scott. Corporations are NOT people and they do NOT have civil rights.
