Why would my camera work when held in hand but not on a tripod?
It works with the connector doohickey attached but when said doohickey is on
the tripod, the camera shuts down every time I try to take a picture.
I am assuming that, since it's in my house, it's just in one of those zones
where nothing makes sense, but if there's a real reason this would happen, I'm

Is the battery compartment door on the bottom? Maybe the connection is being
tweaked 'just right' when the thing is on the tripod applying pressure to the
bottom and you press the shutter button?
What make/model camera is it?
It's a Canon Powershot S2 1S

The LCD screen hasn't worked for awhile & the manual is dated 2005.
