Perhaps.  We have to think about how independent we want our builds of
contrib subdirectories to be from the main build environment; my
understanding is that accomplishing this in Maven today is not as easily
as one might prefer.

The thing I'm not at all interested in is spending *our* efforts to
keep our build envirnoments current with changes in Maven as they finish
their 1.0 beta cycle.  Presumably, things are settling down pretty rapidly
so that this won't be an issue.
