We have to think about how independent we want our builds of contrib subdirectories to be from the main build environment; my understanding is that accomplishing this in Maven today is not as easily as one might prefer. The thing I'm not at all interested in is spending *our* efforts to keep our build envirnoments current with changes in Maven as they finish their 1.0 beta cycle.
