The Gang of Four book is a very good book for introducing design patterns to the 
world, but can at times be too indestinct for my preference.

I agree that an architecture is much bigger than a design pattern. It's bigger than an 
Analysis Pattern. It could be described as a multiple of interconnected analysis 
patterns and user requirements, but then you get into another religious flame war (as 
anyone who read's Rational's OTUG mailing list could atest).
