Thanks for trying and sorry you are running into this bug. It's working
for me and for some others, so I wonder what's different in your case.

I have a rather busy day today and am not quite sure when I'll have time
to spend on debugging this more thoroughly.

Since you are not the only one seeing the "no user name configuration in
git repo" error I'm hoping that I'll be able to at least recreate that one
with a new account...
