No bug reports, no code, no suggestions, nothing. So I guess we should call this a failed attempt and abandon it - screw the 500 or so people who use it. > I have no idea of numbers, but I care about it and it's a great tool. I think it's at the point where the questions is whether the effort of adding new features is worth the reward... if someone is pushing to add something new and doing the work then great. But right now it looks like that isn't happening, which is fine - we have a great tool now. It's not bug-free, so that should be where any effort on Subsurface-mobile should be directed.

The current version in Subsurface 4.5.x is pretty much unusable and makes no bleeping sense. No patches, some suggestions for improvement, no discussion, nothing. > Unusable? Yes, it's not ideal yet but Iuse it. And it sounds like others do too. > > In summary, this project is pretty much dead. I guess it does everything the formerly active developers wanted? There are many significant contributers but you've been the driving force behind the project since I've been using it (well before I submitted any patches). It's not for me to say what you should work on, but I really don't want to see the project wound up. > (2) move things to maintenance mode, abandon Subsurface-mobile, fix bugs in Subsurface whenever we find time but otherwise declare victory? It won't be too painful to track libdicecomputer and keep making 4.5.x releases for a while, I guess... That's very fair for the time being. If people are working hard to add features, then great. But I'm happy with what we have now. Slow progress and cleaning bugs up when they stick out are good objectives. > (3) focus on Subsurface-mobile, release the iOS version, update the Android version and see if there is a single person besides me who is willing to invest time into that? I appreciate the subsurface-mobile, and an ios version would open up a new user base, but I won't promise to spend hours and hours on it any time soon. For one thing, my skills are lacking. So is time. > (4) focus on Subsurface 4.6, fix the dive site management and create a list of prioritized features that we want to get in place? That'd be great. But it needn't happen overnight. Probably the first goal would be to work out how it should work (easier said than done). Then implement it. > (5) focus on Subsurface 5.0, write a completely new UI and abandon what we have in 4.5? I think we can't see that happening in a hurry. > > If your vote is for 3, 4, or 5 I assume that you are volunteering to carry some of the work that is needed to get there. > If you don't vote, I will count that as a vote for 1. > My "vote" is to work with 2, and aim for 4. Anything else needs someone to drive it hard. You've put in so much work for 3. It seems close, but I know nothing about ios development.
