Yes Warren, I was watching this e-mail. Some time ago I got the same question of another member of NASS with the same examples "fur" and "fair". How curious. Fair will fit best, however speak it short. Perhaps it sounds more as the first part in "ferric", in any case in the way as I speak that word in English.
