If your product is in big demand, then you can command a 100% payment. I prefer to ask for 50%, so that the customer feels I'm dealing with them in good faith. But I have very little experience in this. Jim Tallman should ask for 100%, because his dials are under $200, and full payment is very reasonable. Purchases over $1,000 are not so common for most folks, and I think I might suggest a 50% deposit at that point. I would be interested in how other people handle this. Tony Moss has a lot of experience here, and maybe will offer an opinion.
