Wow! I have learned more in 5 minutes reading your notes than in a whole year. Like others who already commented, your insights are much appreciated.
Literature on metalworking is very hard to find, certainly in Canada, most certainly in the sticks where I live. Most information has been gleaned from unrelated texts such as knife making books, knife magazines, jewellery literature etc. There are some books out there, e.g. by Tim McCreight on jewellery making which really do not go into much detail. I have even had a go at electroplating at a cost of one car battery! So, if, as suggested, you are going to write book about the technical side of dialling, I shall be the first to buy it. Even better, make a video as well! I am very keen to try engraving and have some books and a video coming on the subject. My major concern in this is not so much the equipment as possession of two left hands (which is why the computer etching technique appealed to me). Many thanks, Mike Koblic, Quesnel, BC
