Item Subject: LATITUD.TXT
Dear friends,

I want to know what methods were the most applied for latitude
determinations in the XVI century, in the land determinations
(not in the sea).

Was the use of the quadrant the most important one?
What was the precision of the observations?

What other portable instruments were used?
Perhaps, the astrolabe?
What was the precision of the observations?

In a book of 1575, latitudes were noted with a precision of 1'
(v.gr. Iaen = 37ΓΈ 51'). How was it possible at this time?

Do you know a bibliography about this matter?

Thanks for your answers.

Regards.
