I have seen very few "pseudo-sundials" made in the modern time. Mane people
buy some commercial sundial in the discounts, but its are not
"pseudo-sundials": its are nothing, NULLA. The declination of the wall is
always around SUD. And the interests of people to observ the hour is
principally from the 9 am to 4 pm.

Nicola, of course I'm not looking for the last word in the discussion, but
nevertheless I may assure you that I'm not writing about commercial sundials
that are still too many on my opinion, but I'm writing about modern fake
sundials. I cant say nothing about that one in New York even if a'm not
convinced at 100 % on his genuine drawing, I say about sundial completely
wrong, as I wrote. I mean, facing South but with a declining drawing, or on
declining wall but with facing south dawing, or with the south on the left
and the gnomon pointing to the right. Or with the stile going up o with
wrong angle (of course with the drawing still wrong)
I saw some sundial very well done, but not working because it was a copy of
a real correct sundial made elsewere.
These for me are not "few", for me are "too many", even if they are only 20
against 200 good dial.
And belive me I'm talking about modern times. Maybe here in the North there
are many free painters than in the South, I don't know and I can't say it.
On the contrary, very near to my city, Ravenna, in a little village I knew a
farmer that made it's own sundial on his house, He made it looking at the
watch every 5 days or so, and with surprise he made a perfect modern
sundial. He cannot realize why the lines were not straight but 8 shaped, but
nevertheless his sundial works almost perfectly all the year. Yes that one
is made by a simple farmer, not a gnomonist, but it is not a fake sundial,
it is almost a correct sundial even if the farmer didn't realize why.
