I am about to deploy 7 sunrays into what was a
windows only network. At the moment there is a debian file/mail server and
6 pc workstations. Due to expansion we've decided to do things a little
differently.
I am putting in a v20z installed with Windows 2003
Standard server to run our industry applications and ms office. I am also
installing a v210 with Solaris for our Sunray enviroment. Now I was going
to have the users fire up rdesktop anytime they had to use a window app, but I'd
rather then be able to just lauch them as desktop apps on JDS. I have seen
a Sun Net talk where they did this and it seems pretty much like it was native,
but being lauched on the windows server via rdp.
What I would like to know is if it was citrix or
tarantella they used and what have people used to achieve
this?
Also since my 210 is only running 7 sunrays would
it be safe to also deploy components of JES like messaging, calendar, instant
and directory on the 210 as well? There by allowing me to retire the
debian server?
Does anyone have any insight or info on
how to setup Sunrays/PC's to do single sign on via smart cards and play
nicely with Sun directory server?
Thanks..
Matt
