For us the application is Quickbooks Pro. We used to use ABS, a COBOL-based program that we ran under Solaris, but it was hard (impossible) to find anyone familiar with this program, the program cost a fortune, and the bookkeepers hated it (they're used to point and click) so we caved to pressure from the accounting department and switched to Quickbooks Pro. The problem is that now anyone who needs access to our accounting system needs access to a Mac (we don't do Windows). But if we replace their Sun Ray with a Mac, they lose access to all our Solaris-based in-house applications (well, we can set up scripts to invoke them using remote X display). We hope to make them all web-based eventually, but eventually is a ways off. Still, management really likes the Sun Rays and they don't like the idea of moving away from it and all its features like session portability. _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users
