Thanks for the input, Otto and Steven.

ldd says that Xsun has all the requisite libraries in place, so no problems there...

I applied 119060-03 with no change on the DTUs. I remember trying rev 2 of this patch with the same results last month, though that wasn't reflected in the app_crash output I quoted.

A `pstack core` from previous crashes showed this:
core 'core' of 3745: /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :2 -nobanner -auth /var/dt/A:2-G1aypb -nobanner
 d18a0025 pix_encode () + 390

That's just a dtlogin process, there's not much of interest there. A 'truss' of the failing Xsun would be more interesting.

I was afraid of that! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Here's the truss output (310k; 8.2MB decompressed): http://derek.trideja.com/lib/xsun_crash-itx.txt.bz2
This output was generated after I installed 119060-03 and rebooted.

Here's what was happening in the real world while truss was running:

(pause)
one DTU plugged in after a utrestart -c
DTU gets IP address ...
DTU sees SRSS ...
DTU shows 26 D ...
14 D/padlock ...
... back to 26 D..
... black screen with hourglass..
26 D, screen refreshes, 26 D... (loops forever; happened 2x in the output)

I really appreciate your time on this--I'm curious to see why things aren't working on this particular box.

Cheers,
Derek
