libusb and mass storage are two different things. libusb is supported on linux for perhiperhals such as scanners, still cameras, pda's, etc. Thrown in USB printers, other serial/parallel devices and you do need to know where to find those things.

We could do a better job in spelling it out, but then again not too many people read the docs. It was in the release notes for 3.0 ( ftp://docs-pdf.sun.com/817-6813/817-6813.pdf ), but for some reason that section disappeared from the 3.1 release notes. I'll see what I can do about that.

It's pointed out a couple of other places, though not obvious.

One thing you want to make sure that you do is bug your Sun sales rep to bug the Sun marketing folks for features you need. They're the folks that can share roadmap information and set product features.

Thank you for clearifying that (seriously). We've been kind of beating our heads against the wall trying to get this to work. I guess the most frustrating point is, why does the SRSS 3.1 features page list USB devices as a feature (but makes no mention of Solaris only), why does the Administration Guide for LINUX walk through how/where USB devices are mounted, and why does the libusbut man page claim this as well? Are there plans to offer this for Linux? We have already migrated almost all of our SunRay devices to linux. While this feature is not a requirement for us, it would be a HUGE plus. Thanks!!

    Hi Greg,
Sun Ray currently only supports mass storage under Solaris.
