Hello,

Although office applications might not be multithreaded you would typically have multiple users with several single threaded applications on a Sunray server. So if you add it up, the Sunray server is a highly multithreaded environment if used by say 100 users. So if the single thread performance is acceptable then you would have a far better scalable system with a T1 than with an Opteron based system. With scalable I mean that the perfomance does not degrade much if you add more users. A fast single theaded system has the disadvantage of being fast for the first user who logs in and gets slower if more user join.
Something which is less likely with the T1.

I hope to test a t2000 system soon.
Sofar I have heard that 88 users on a t2000 is no problem.
But no specs on what they where using :-(

In my opion the T1 systems are perfect Sunray systems if you focus on session management. They might also be sufficient to run desktop applications, but I have to test that first. If some applications run to slow on the T1 systems you might consider using Sun Secure Global Desktop to host these applications on Opteron system and feed only the display to the Sunray server.

Ivar
