First question: Is there a way to disable one or the other so users

Just don't install or remove the other one, that's all.

If you want users to have a choice, I think in some config file of gdm there should be entries for each installed window manager. I suppose a hack could be written that assigns a specific type of WM to a specific user. A few years ago sometimes it was necessary to add undetected WMs manually (Windowmaker, Fluxbox etc. or GNOME) in kdm, so the opposite could probably somehow be done in gdm as well.

Second question: In all of your expert opinions which is the better
environment for use with the Sun Rays? (We customize menus and lockdown
all desktop/screensaver/timeout type stuff)

I've been using KDE solely for a number of years, a recent inadvertent GNOME install on a new box looked very nice though, may look leaner and be more appropriate for users with a limited number of tasks. For me konqueror as a file manager with multi pane view possibilities beats nautilus (the properties of which I may not have fully explored). But then again, you could run konqueror under GNOME anyway.

Third question: What is Sun's current support/compatability with KDE
like?

My experimenting with KDE under Sun Ray showed only the problem of VMware with a Windows guest running in KDE not understanding correctly the keyboard input (cf. my posting above). Other than that it looked as if everything in KDE was behaving as usual
