Hi Bob,

A better list for this question would be to the Sun Ray Users Group
([email protected], register at http://filibeto.org)
but I'm happy to have caught this. I hope you don't mind my
CC'ing them so that interested folks can join in.

There are so many possible uses of Zones with Sun Ray that
such a generic question can't be answered easily. In SRSS 4.0
we started using the labeled-zones model of Solaris 10 Trusted
Extensions, so in one sense we're using Zones today. Some
people might like to run SRSS within a Zone (e.g. for a
service provider),

That indeed would be the reason why we would like to see this capability. One could purchase a larger Sun box and run a couple of zones (one per client) on it, each running SRS, Window Maker and some productivity apps, the clients connecting - with a couple of remote sun rays - to their zone.

We need a good business case to staff an effort to do anything
here. What exactly would you like to do with Sun Ray and Zones?

IMHO Sun Rays could soon replace home PCs (not all but many). This will work out only, if we could run many zones/clients on one machine. SGD runs in zones, but SGD requires a full blown PC) on the client end running the native client software. I would like to replace these fat clients with sun rays!

Regards,

  Andreas
