Also, if you have a 2FS (2-way 1280*1024 multihead, for example) and
then in another terminal group you have the same 2*1280*1024 logical
screen space but presented as a multihead group of two separate units
(SR2, SR1, whatever) then session mobility doesn't work especially well.
If you start the session on the 2FS then when taken to a 2-unit group
your 2560*1024 session pans around but only on the first display. Start
the session on the 2-unit group and take it to the 2FS and it will
appear just on the first display of the 2FS and you'll need to screen
flip with the mouse.
We bought some pairs of plain 2's to get dual head with proper Xinerama.
However, we're trying out a [EMAIL PROTECTED] like setup too - but due to space
constraints (and wives etc.) we wanted to use just one ray at home.
You mention above, that you need to "screen flip with the mouse", to switch
between the two screens.
Maybe this is a silly question, but how did you do that? It would be a fine
solution for us to "screen flip" on the home setup - but is this a SRSS
specific thing or is it basic X functionality that I just don't know about?
Unfortunately, this is only possible with actual "multihead", which
is different from the dual-screen 2FS configuration.
You do of course have pan&scan behavior available
today if you hotdesk from a larger resolution to a smaller
one, which is similar to screen flipping in many
ways.
In a future release (probably the next one), we're
planning to support the Xorg's XRandR feature (and
support Xorg on Solaris), so that if you hotdesk
between Sun Rays with monitors that support
different resolutions (including a 2FS which
essentially looks like a 3840 x1200 resolution
spread across two monitors) you can shrink the
desktop to fit the new resolution (and expand it
back out again later if you return to a larger
resolution). That's very different from screen
flipping, however, and compressing a 3840x1200
desktop to something like 1280x1024 might not result
in a very attractive situation if you have lots of
large windows on each workspace.
