The problem I always encounter is that /tmp is mounted with the
`nosuid' by default. This is specified in /etc/vfstab as a security
measure. It prevents audio devices in /tmp from working. I have to
set up a special install configuration for Sun Ray servers to omit
this option.
Thanks this was the problem and now sunray sound works fine. Bad news
though, our head Unix admin said that is a change we can't push out.
Does anyone know of a way to get around this or have the devices created
in a different location?
I remedied this by creating a symlink from /tmp/SUNWut/dev ->
/var/tmp/dev. Also talking to our Admin about the how much security
nosuid actually provides /tmp.
