If you have two nics, one "public", one "private" that you configured
via utadm -a
The private interconnect would be unplumbed at the time of running utadm
-a <nic> and this network would be a non-routed segment.
It's the older way of using Sun Rays to keep them segmented an only
allow DHCP to affect the DTU's and not every other DHCP client on the
network.

Well - the solaris installer does not start a DHCP server.
Its more likely that you have run the "utadm" setup procedure multiple
times.
Run " utadm -d e1000g0 " to delete the config and check if the DHCP
server is still active with "pntadm"
it should have been unconfigured as well.
If the solaris server only have a singel NIC it is probably better to
set up the NIC
as a Fixed IP adress with the solaris Installer. And Not Use the DHCP
CLIENT when installing Solaris.
So if you use 192.168.1.10 as the fixed adress for the NIC in Solaris ,
even if you don not have a router
I would manually point the server to a router with the adress 192.168.1.1
Then when you install SRSS you can do
# utadm -A 192.168.1.0 ( note the CAPITAL A )
Do not accept the defaults .
set up 192.168.1.10 as both auth and firmware server .
select to server IP addresses from the server.
Select to start DHCP.

I think that the problem may be how I respond to the network setup questions
when installing Solaris. When the Solaris installer asks is this system
networked
or not, what is the correct answer given that there isn't to be any routing?

If you use a dedicated sun ray Network interface I belive that
SRSS tries to use 192.168.128.0 as the network number for this
interface is that whats happening on you r box ?
# pntadm -L
Should list the networks registerd with the DHCP server .
# pntadm -C 192.168.128.0 should register the desired subnet for
DHCP . Does it ?

(also tried 4.0). I have the server and the Sun Ray directly connected into a
hub and there is no router in the system. utadm -a e1000g0 runs but when it
goes to update the DHCP tables, it returns an error 'pntadm: The server address
is not a valid address.'

svcs | grep dhcp says that the DHCP server is online. However, after reboot,
the Sun Ray just sits at the hourglass with two dashes underneath which I
believe means that the Sun Ray is waiting for an IP address.
Have I made a mistake in configuring Solaris or SRSS or is this a bug in
4.0/4.1? Any help is greatly appreciated.
