Just a friendly reminder that while Sun enginners are on this list, a
question asked here does not equal placing a call to Sun support where
an actual trouble ticket gets logged, tracked, etc.

Have you considered 'VNC' as an option.
With VNC server running as an 8-bit Pseudocolor framebuffer, your

We have tried VNC and it works yes. However, with the common screen
modes we are using here (1600x1200) it is by far too slow to be usable
on a daily basis. So we really require that functionality we had with
SRSS 4.0 where we can set 8bit pseudocolor as a default for selected
cards/tokens.
I really hope that someone at Sun can have a look at that and fix it
with the next update. And I really hope that 8bit pseudocolor visual
support will not be dropped in the near future because we have many
applications requiring 8bit visuals, I am afraid.
