It's important to install the Sun supplied pdksh before installing and
configuring SRSS. You will additionally need the extra packages listed
in the Release Notes.
I'm not sure why swapping out one shell for another would cause the
authentication failure. It shouldn't. If you boot into single user
mode, and change the shell for the user you are using to bash, does it
let you log-in?

Hi, it's a bit unclear what your problem really is, but yes, in my
experience it is necessary to replace ksh with pdksh, or else utconfig
fails (from an earlier post on this list, no explanation as to why
this
works).
I don't see any reason for this making it impossible to log in? Have
you
set ksh as the login shell for root or something similar?
