If putty is going to be used for SSH or Telnet access Solaris already has a built in Telnet/SSH client!! -Just open up Gterm (Gnome Terminal)
Also for Serial communications a USB->Serial adapter can be used with tip which is already part of Solaris!!! ...Config resides in /etc/remote directory Also there is Minicom which can be compiled on Solaris and GTKterm too. Your best bet though for serial shells is tip as it support Zmodem and Xmodem transfers plus stty logins. You also might want to try SXCE too as that has later and better packages then Sol 10... it is compatible with the Ray as I am using it at home with an ancient Sun E420r server linked to a Ray 1 :-) HTH Regards, Kaya -----Original Message----- From: fitra budi anggoro <[email protected]> To: SunRay-Users mailing list <[email protected]> Sent: Fri, Jul 31, 2009 3:31 am Subject: [SunRay-Users] Sun Ray for Data Center Operations Hi All, we are planning to propose our sun ray on Data Center Operation division. The users is the one who directly connect to production servers on data center and do admin things. Now they are using PC, and heavily used some terminal emulator. They ask for some replacement sw that can run on solaris (thus they dont need windows license on pc anymore). Following are the sw they need : 1.? Putty (terminal emuator telnet unix) 2. Win6530 (terminal emulator tandem) 3. Hummingbird / mochasoft ( terminal emulator mainframe) 4. Exceed (terminal emulator ) I found this terminal emulator : http://www.ericom.com/ptisol.asp it run on solaris and support emulation on mainframe and tandem also. Anyone already use this sw or might have other sw that already used for data center operation? is it ok running on sun ray? Thanks and Regards, Fitra _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users
