For the most part the core components are platform dependant binaries. Try doing a `file /opt/SUNWut/bin/* /opt/SUNWut/sbin* /opt/SUNWut/lib/* | grep ELF` sometime to see for yourself (or whatever the equivalent directories are on Linux).
You got me curious, so I threw my SRSS 1.0 CD in my PC here. Looks like it shipped with Java 1.1.7 (this is back n '99)!! My quick look makes me think it was used for the web server piece.
