We picked up 10 Gobi 7 when we upgraded from a PC environment to Sun Rays in
2007. They were slightly <$1200 each through our Sun resellers. For our setup
serving XP desktop clones via VMWare they work just like our 270s only
portable. Sweet. We're just using a kiosk session, so I can't answer to using
them as static user desktops. And if they leave the wireless network they don't
*work.* Ha ha ha.

Subject: Re: [SunRay-Users] Gobi SunRay laptops

I talked to sales reps from Aimtec and General Dynamics (who make the
Tadpole series thin-client laptops) a year or so ago. At that time, the
Tadpole Meteor (similar to the current M1400, I believe) was $950. I
couldn't find my notes for the Gobi, but IIRC, they were $1000-$1200 US
(I may be misremembering that, though). We ended up not pursuing using
thin laptops, so I can't tell you anything about how good either one is.
