What is the output of “utfwadm –P”?
What does your /tftpboot directory look like? Here is a trick I picked up if the push fails: Log in to the TC in question and get a shell. Run /opt/SUNWut/lib/utload -S `hostname` -f firmware_name For example: /opt/SUNWut/lib/utload -S `hostname` -f SunRayP8-GUI4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48 [the string after “-f” is what appears in "utfwadm -P" and the FW needs to be in /tftpboot; From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Paul Whitener Sent: Tuesday, November 30, 2010 10:24 AM To: SunRay-Users mailing list Subject: EXTERNAL:Re: [SunRay-Users] Sun Ray 3 GUI_firmware interesting delima So I just ran in the latest 4.1 patch I could find, 139549-07, rebooted, noticed the CoronaP9 stuff showed up. Then I ran the following: bash-3.2# ./utfwload -L Upgrading units to version GUI4.2_17_2009.06.24.11.48: 5.0 ???? 192.168.128.202 P9.0021288fe0b2 MfgPkg_5.01_4.2_2010.03.16.12.44 Sun Ray 3 still has same firmware, MfgPkg_5.01_4.2_2010.03.16.12.44, with no gui in sight! thoughts and thanks! /paul -----Original Message----- From: Bob Doolittle Sent: Nov 30, 2010 11:13 AM To: SunRay-Users mailing list Subject: Re: [SunRay-Users] Sun Ray 3 GUI_firmware interesting delima But you can't force downgrading firmware of new hardware which didn't have firmware available ever before! There was no firmware available for the new line in SRSS 4.2, because it didn't exist yet. As Craig suggested, your only recourse is to apply a patch which contains newer firmware, which will include GUI firmware. -Bob On 11/30/10 10:55, James Kissler wrote: Paul, you can force a firmware update, even if downgrading to an older firmware version. I believe the flag to be used in the command line. I would suggest pulling the firmware from one of the newer updates srss updates to replace your current firmare repository. That's the easiest/best solution in my opinion. A 3 and a 3+. Now I have an interesting problem. I am running a 4.2 SRSS server on OpenSolaris b_108 (which has been rock solid BTW). Since the DTUs default to non_gui_firmware, I always connect them to a dedicated lan and let them re-flash to GUI_firmware. Problem is, the SRSS server firmware is at a lower rev than the new DTUs and they will not flash. So GUI_firmware will not turn on. Is there a keyboard combo (all be it undocumented) that will turn on the GUI_firmware menus for me? Otherwise I will have to build a new SRSS server. (I think I already know the answer, but thought I would give it a shot!) Thanks in advance! /paul _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users
