Craig,

Does the fact that vRDP attaches at the Hypervisor level make it less useful
or even non-functional in a WTS scenario? Or does it perhaps mean that there
will be resource constraints since it's not multi-user?

It was my understanding that of the 2 performance tweaks [going to x86 and
VirtualBox], vRDP was supposed to provide the lion's share of the performance
boost. Has that been your experience?

For scenario 1, did SRS 5.1.2 markedly improve SRWC, which is where I would
imagine the action to be happening?

We are currently pursuing scenario #2 but I suppose, along the way, we can also
do #1.

Thanks as always for your detailed information.

Scott

vRDP attaches at the Hypervisor level, it's not multi user like WTS/RDS

The two things that I've suggested trying for your app are:

1) Use a modern x86 server (rather than CMT) and see how your app works
with SRS 5.1.2 and our MS-RDP7 enhancements. Currently the CMT server
in your mix is affecting how well our new RDP7 feature works since we
have to convert the Microsoft enhanced bitmap stream to M-JPEG at the
Sun Ray Sever layer.

2) Build a VirutalBox VM of Win7 (or 2008R2 if that's easier) and see
how your app works over vRDP. Little if any processing takes place on
the Sun Ray server.
