Yes, I used the same option, -c. At one point it did not seem to act in the same way as utrestart -c. I'm going to chalk that up to lack of sleep.
I changed the worker threads for authd from 8 to 32 (in /etc/opt/SUNWut/auth.props). I'm now getting much fewer hung sessions, just 2 or 3 a day out of about 100 DTUs. Nope, I have no cron jobs attempting a cleanup of /tmp. I have a support case open and will see how that goes.
