yet. But, Oracle support has assured us that it does work.

They should not have. No released version of SRSS is supported on OEL 6.x - and afaik they won't work at all. SRSS 5.2 is supported on OEL 5.6 only.

So basically forget Linux for the moment as the provided GDM has become incompatible is the final verdict!!!

That's ok :-)

That would not be OK with us, and luckily that's not correct.
At the moment SRS 5.2 supports Oracle Linux 5.5 and 5.6.

See the list of supported OSs here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E22662_01/E22659/html/Reqs-OS.html

We remain committed to supporting Oracle Linux. We'll no doubt support Oracle 6.x in a future release.

Ok so Oracle Linux is supported then..... but that unfortunately doesn't change my Fedora 15 setup which is unusable in a Ray setup :-(

I guess my presence won't have any affect anyway as I'm not using my Ray in a professional environment, and F15 has is quite good for supporting my Mini-ITX based hardware and is a great desktop system for me at this point.

Support would have been nice though. Well as mentioned previously once I manage to get the virtualization platform that I'm after I should be able to test out both Oracle Linux and Solaris 11.

So far I have only used the Ray with Debian 3.01r (Sarge) and SXCE many years ago. It's just slightly frustrating now as I got my parents to bring the Ray 1 box over while vacationing - a 5 hour trip door-to-door :-( - Unfortunately they would be unable to put my Sun E420r server in a suitcase next time they fly over; which is where I originally ran my Ray from using SXCE.

Anyway..... more hardware needed! :-)

Regards,

Kaya
