With the Goby 8 there are three pieces of firmware:
1. Sun Ray: loads like normal Sun Ray firmware from the tftp directory on the Sun Ray server. You have to put it there though.
2. VPN: There is a menu option to load the VPN firmware from a tftp server.
3. 3G: There is a menu option to load 3G firmware from a tftp server.

If there is no 3G then it might also be a Gobi 7.

I have some Gobi 8 firmware from june/juli 2009.
I have to check for special firmware versions if you are interested.
Since their support site is off line I don't see any harm in helping you out.

Kind regards,

Ivar

Yes, it has wireless and the ability to store 3 profiles for wireless. But in the settings, there is no where to put the SRSS IP address to connect to. In fact no where in the firmware can you enter a server wired or wireless. There are also no VPN settings.

    Paul,

Could you describe the networking on this laptop? Is there a
    wireless option?

    Thanks.

Subject: EXT :[SunRay-Users] Sun Ray 2N Notebook question

    Greetings all,

I have acquired a Sun Ray 2N notebook. It is a nifty toy! I
think they were specially made for a customer in Japan?
I have noticed that while it will connect to the Ether, it seems
to have been focused on wifi. In the firmware, there is no place
to point it to a specific server. SO I am guessing DHCP was
    supposed to push that.

My question is this: Is there a firmware upgrade or hack that any
one has that lets it use Ether a bit more easily? I am guessing
it is not supported, just hoping someone has some good stuff for it.

    Thanks in advance,

    /paul
