This figures. I can't imagine Oracle's management team is really this
stupid, but perhaps they are.
I've been a Sun user, admin, and developer since the Sun-2 was
current. No, I don't mean SPARCstation-2, I mean the Multibus Sun-2
systems with Motorola 68010 CPUs running SunOS 3. I have purchased and
installed thousands (THOUSANDS!) of Sun systems across a dozen companies
I've worked for since then, and bought and sold hundreds more as a
consultant. I have been a loyal Sun customer for twenty years...and now
I'm looking at my rows of racks of glorious Sun hardware, with
performance and reliability that overgrown-video-game PCs can't touch,
and I'm facing the looming prospect of replacing them with PeeCees
running Linux. (and not Oracle's lame excuse for a "Linux distro"
either...does anyone actually run that??)
Oracle, it's time for you to wake up. People are eating your lunch.
If the current management team is truly this incompetent, they need to
step down for the good of their company and let someone who actually
understands the industry run things.
Thank heaven the source code for most of the important stuff is out
there so the community can do what it needs to do without Oracle's
involvement.
If I didn't know better, I'd guess this was another Microsoft-funded
internal corporate sabotage effort like Darl McBride's torpedoing of SCO
while at the helm.
