Are you using AD for the VMs and user logon?
Since you are not using fastprep I suspect you might use Samba for 
athentication?
There is a problem with samba autentication in 3.4.1 which has been resolved 
with a hotfix:
14487528 - vrdp authentication passed as username@domain, which is problem for 
samba auth.

Since you were not using VRDP for XP you probably did not encounter this 
problem with XP.
Or am I wrong in thinking you might be using Samba?
