First of all, a big GET WELL SOON to Lucia from everyone here. How did you
manage to get by without catching Chickenpox until now? I think that was the
first of those childhood diseases I caught. Hope Mina and Rory(?) are OK.
I think it's great that SS are releasing tracks via the Net, and allowing
the fans to remix a track (HELP! I know nothing that allows me to take
advantage of this brilliant opportunity, and I'm sure i'm not the only one
on the list that would like to get up to speed in time to make a good stab
at this...anyone want to drop me a line??). It's been an awful long wait for
OOTW - but I've been busy putting togethere a complete UK back catalogue, a
task I only finished in the last month or so. So now I've nothing to occupy
me while I wait for new stuff. It's also kind of ironic that although it
isn't really new stuff, there's rarely been so much SS stuff available to
buy. With all these different releases around the globe, it's going to be
harder to maintain a full SS collection. Some new UK releases would be nice
around now!! (hint, hint). I've too much invested in the band now to give up
on them. And I STILL have to see them play live...
I also think it's a pity that SS have now passed out of the consciousness of
the dance community here. All the DJs I've spoken to know and love stuff
like PM, and LuM, but trying to get them to bring it in and play it is like
drawing water from a turnip. IF they do, it's only at the very very start of
the night (sole exception was "Cover Me", and I still haven't got my copy of
that back from that DJ). PM was placed no. 113 in a list of the Top 200 club
tunes of all time in a survey in DJ magazine about 2 years ago - I wonder if
they compiled another chart in the morning, would anyone remember to include
it now? I think not. Most people assume that the band are
no longer together, 'cos most people haven't heard anything for so long.
That's the real pity. Still, I guess it's better to get a few gems very
occasionally rather than a new track knocked together in 5 minutes released
every 4 weeks. I hope the new stuff isn't too far around the corner, and
that it puts SS back up there where they belong. Remember all of us when
there's a sudden influx of newbies on this list please!!!
