Yea, but that's a circular argument.

Not wanting to keep an argument going for fun, I just felt I had to point
out the logic here. Adam's view seems a little narrow.

SS are getting more live bookings abroad and also records are selling well?
Surely that should be the other way round? Surely the fact that they are
selling well is contributing to their live bookings? Admittedly, these will
in turn help record sales and so ad infinitum.

The reason SS don't get as many live bookings here is because no-one's heard
of them. The reason no-one's heard of them is because they don't release
stuff. We need to see them getting regular no. 1 hits, then they'll have
live offers coming out of their ears. I'm afraid (like it or not) that the
nature of the industry is that you have to release material, high profile to
get your foot in the door. You can't get away with the odd single here and
there and hope.

I mean, look at Fat Boy Slim, for example. Who'd heard of Norman Cook a year
ago? I mean what was that album he had out? I dunno, can't remember, looked
like a floppy disk, though, that's all I can remember. What I'm saying is
yes, he had a presence, but it was very slight

Anyway, with this 'You've come a long way baby' album, he must have had a
track out every month or two for a while. Admittedly getting engaged to Zoe
Ball probably helped his fame, but I don't think that's an explorable avenue
for John ;-). The point is that a whole nation of people didn't know him
from Adam (no offence, Adam) not that long ago, now everyone knows who he
is.Why? Because his music has been shoved down your throat.

Okay, I'm gonna stop ranting now, I think you all know what I'm saying and I
think it's been said before (I know I've said it before, the last example I
used was Chumbawamba), so 'nuff said and I shall put away my soap box for
now.

Still, if constant radio play can get Baz Lurpak to No. 1, anything's
possible, isn't it?

Keep Screeming,

Neil
