For some installs I just copy the whole installer on to one of my 
drives :) and they usually work from there.

i had some problems with virtual pc the other day so I dragged the 
whole >300 MB  installer file on to a drive and it worked fine, when 
it wouldn't work through my cd.

BTW Jeff
...did you ever find a work around for the problem of being able to 
only have the start up system folders on ide drives when attached 
through an ide tempo card in the pci slot.  Given that if the are on 
an attached scsi for example it will always default to that scsi 
drive????

I would love to put a back up system on the older slower scsi, but 
for now its all on ide.  I do have an old ez135 drive that serves as 
my fallback for fix ups though.

I haven't felt the compulsion to play around with my system for a while.
I will wait till I get a new laptop or something having found my 
system now stable with all the different 
cards/upgrades/harddrives/cddrives etc...all working together well.
