Hi,

I'm a new kid [50ish] on the block and very impressed with all the
great info I've been reading. I've become bonded with a Umax c600/180
over past few years as it was my first... computer. The upgrades to
it have only been an OS8.6 with a bigger ATA HD [40gb] and an
internal Yamaha scsi CDRW. Also have an external scsi chain of
periphials.

I've been trying to get an Asante'Fast 10/100 PCI to work but have
been unable to do so. I would appreciate any suggestions, and I
wonder if it's even compatible. According to some techinfo, it states
that there could be a bus-mastering problem and that card may not
work on some Macs. However, I don't really know what that means and
I'm also puzzled at what NIC stands for rather than PCI. The card is
used and it may not be any good, but I would like to know for sure
that it won't work with my setup before I give up.

Much Thanks,
Wally.
