Hi All, Ive got a Formac ProTV card which causes really annoying problems when installed with 3 other PCI-cards, i dont know if its a 6-slot problem or something software related. First, it wont work in a lower slot if theres another card, very cheeky for a TV-tuner (in my opinion only serious cards like SCSI controlers are allowed to do so). This is my 4-card setup:
Slot#1: Acard ATA66 IDE (Maxtor w. main system, Lite-On CD/RW) Slot#2: Pro TV Slot#3: - Slot#4: Voodoo 3 Slot#5: - Slot#6: USB (1 hub -> Epson SC740, Wacom tablet) Umax S900 233 DP/ OS 9.1 This setup is very instable, most problems are USB-related and im sure the ProTV causes them. When using the Wacom mouse, system freezes from time to time, sometimes finder quits, mouse freezes until USB-reset, really annoying. When i throw out the TV, the system is rock solid. The other thing is that id really like to use Voodoo and IDE in the upper slots because both are faster there (Voodoo 2 times - tested with ThroughPut). I wonder if the ProTV video codec extension causes the problems, its one of these items you dont see in the extensions manager. I know there is a way to res-edit this type of extensions to make them load later, but i dont know how. Maybe this is the way. For now, the only solution is changing PCI-cards 2 times a day. In the morning, i throw out TV for working, in the evening back in for entertainment... Has anybody solved this kind of problem? Any suggestion are appreciated!
