I am hoping one of you good folks can help me out. My daughter's S900
will not boot up. This a *long* story that I'll try to keep short.
When trying to boot from a CD a few week back, the S900 would fire up
and I'd hear the chime, but the monitor would not come on and I
couldn't complete a boot. Using another machine, I verified that
monitor and graphics card (IXMicro) were working. I tried booting
with each of my cards, disks and periphericals taken out of the
picture. No joy. I removed all the RAM (except that soldered to the
motherboard) and retried.

I began to have episodes where the power would not come up at all
until I'd pushed the power up button several times. I started
suspecting the power supply. I took it out and a friend and I gave it
a thorough examination - nothing obvious wrong. When I went to
reinstall, the power would no longer come up at all - no fan, no
chime; just a quick flash of LED's and slight movement of the fan.
Strongly suspecting the power supply, now, I won a bid for one on
EBay. It arrived today, but the behavior is exactly the same.
Meanwhile, I'd also replaced the PRAM battery.

Now I am assuming that something is wrong in the motherboard. My
question to you all is: can you suggest anything else to try before
I go out and try to score a motherboard or whole other S900? This
machine has been good to me and, now, to my daughter. I would sure
like to get it back on its feet. I had just installed a new G3/500,
more RAM and OS 9.1. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
