The overhead to coordinate two CPUs costs about 10% of performance. In a well implemented system, this is well worth it. However, the dual CPUs in the S900 only helped in certain applications and not at all for the OS, so what you get is a 10% loss of performance overall and a big gain for a few specific apps written to take advantage of it. That's what I read, not something I've tested, but it is consistent with the theory I know too.
