You got it. Interleaving is when 2 matching DIMMS (size & type) are placed
in corresponding slots (ie. A1 & B1 or A2 & B2 etc.). De-interleaving would
involve making sure that corresponding slots (ie. A1 & B1) have two
different sized DIMMs. Here are 2 quotes from Ryan Rempel's site concerning
memory...

1) "If your computer freezes when you enable the cache, or if you have
random freezes later, there are several steps you can take that may improve
matters. You can increase the clock ratio for the cache (i.e. slow the cache
down). It can also help to de-interleave your memory, if it is interleaved.
Removing the original motherboard cache can help (if it is removable)."

2) "There are occasions on which RAM which is fine in Mac OS 9 has problems
in Mac OS X. So you can try removing RAM DIMMs to see whether that helps."

Troubleshooting can be a pain when your configuration seems as though it
should work as it is. But trying things and narrowing down the possible
causes of problems has it's rewards when you finally get OS X up and
running. I only mentioned the de-interleaving as a precaution, as it is one
more thing that may cause a problem. There are speed benefits to having all
your RAM interleaved, around 10% or 15% as I recall, so it is preferable
providing it doesn't interfere with the OS X installation/operation. Trial
and error as they say, try it both ways.
